The new site – still at randa.org – represents the most significant step change since the introduction of the previous site in 2007.
It has been launched to be ready for the forthcoming Amateur and Women’s Amateur Championships this month, ahead of an exciting summer for the sport. The new site offers a fresh, clean and streamlined look and feel – with a focus on striking imagery, engaging content and captivating video. In line with our new five-year strategy, the new style of site places a greater emphasis on participation to engage with golfers and perspective golfers and highlights The R&A’s work on a global scale to continue to grow the sport across all ages, abilities, backgrounds and genders. We have primarily focused on the point of view of the user and what they may look for first and foremost, including a new section entitled Play Golf.
Key features of the new R&A website include:
Three top navigation areas – Golf, Rules and Championships – which are expected to drive our biggest audiences. These are as simple and universal as possible.
A searchable function to easily locate information across the site.
A ‘Golf for All’ section that talks directly to different people to encourage them to consider taking up the sport.
An enhanced championship experience, with built-in live blog, and easy-to-enter ability for players to compete across our event calendar.
An overall structure that makes The R&A section a focus for our latest big projects eg Women in Golf Charter, #FOREeveryone, Golf and Health and accommodating some of the initiatives from the new strategy.
A global feel where we signpost our world of golf, including our national affiliates and partners, and embrace our history and heritage.
Our new content provides a warmer and more engaging feel, while we are developing the new site with a phased approach. It is a website that will always develop as we look dynamically to the future.
