The Continent of Europe maintained their overnight two point lead in the Junior Vagliano Trophy after the morning foursomes were shared with GB&I to leave the overall score at 7-5.

Johanna Axelsen and Perla Sól Sigurbrandsdóttir were in control of the match against Grace Crawford and Maggie Whitehead for much of the contest, picking up two early holes before being pegged back to all-square at the 4th hole. An eagle 3 at the 11th followed by a birdie at the 12th gave them a two hole lead and they eventually closed the match out on the 17th for a 2&1 win. Rosie Bee Kim and Marina Joyce Morena let a vital two-up lead slip in the closing stages of their encounter against Carla de Troia and Lynn van der Sluijs, having to settle for a halve after they unable to match their opponent’s par at the last. Nevertheless. Isla McDonald-O’Brien and Amelia Wan defeated Anna Cañadó Espinal and Andrea Revuelta Goicoechea 2&I to salvage a point for their side and keep the deficit to two points overall in the match. The Continent of Europe remain in control after the Saturday morning foursomes at Blairgowrie.

Great Britain and Ireland delivered a strong performance in the morning foursomes, winning three of the four matches to reduce the Continent of Europe’s overnight advantage to a single point at 8½-7½.

Carl Siemens and Tim Wiedemeyer boosted the away side’s lead by a point after beating Dylan Shaw-Radford and Niall Shiels Donegan 3&1 in the first match of the morning foursomes. Harley Smith and Tyler Weaver reduced the home team’s deficit soon after, winning their match 2&1 against and Marco Florioli and Oihan Guillamoundegu thanks to a run of four holes in which they won at the 13th, 14th and 16th. Home favourite Connor Graham and Frank Kennedy then pulled back another point for GB&I after taking care of Albert Hansson and William Wistrand 3&2. They led the match from the get-go and never relinquished their advantage throughout, securing the win on 16th with a par. It was left to Oliver Murkerjee and Josh Hill to secure the final point of the session with a narrow one hole win over Thijmen Batens and Tom Haberer. Scoring/Tee Times
